Lisa
Is this you??? Did you sit next to me in Miss Libby's class in 7th grade? If so, have been trying to find you. I am coming to Santa Fe next month and would love to see you.
Fond memories,

I visited the exhibition in June and had to be coaxed - reluctantly - into viewing the show. Video has never been on the top of my list of art forms to experience so I figured to do a quick walk through, then leave. Much to my surprise, the work was engrossing and demanded one spend time with each piece - a lot of time it turns out. I was there for two hours and came away with the thought that not only was this the best art exhibition I'd ever seen in Santa Fe, but the best video exhibition I've ever seen anywhere, and that includes NYC. Because of art world politics in New York and elsewhere, this kind of show could only have been curated by artists.
Congratulations to all the artists who made the show not only a success but a major event as well. As an artist who has curated a half dozen art exhibitions myself, I thoroughly appreciated the excellent curatorial effort that did so much to ensure the success of the exhibition and I'm looking forward to seeing more in the not too distant future. I spoke with three of the artists after the show, former New Yorkers like myself. New York's loss, Santa Fe's gain.
I can't believe only 2,000 people saw the show; it was a rich experience for those who did and a genuine loss for those who didn't.

At last something new! "Currents 2010" filled a void for me in the Santa Fe arts scene.
The whole concept was fresh and appealing. I hope that this event grows and develops as it definitely stood out. Kudos to the producers of this show!

The Currents show drew me back to its "warm cave" interior ....compelled, I returned seven days in a row. Some exhibitions curated around a singular technology can leave one feeling parched by an overly narrow vision (cold cave). For me the success of Currents is that it celebrates the rich journey this electronic medium has expanded through. The work was so impressively diverse, yet precisely and beautifully curated, that it encouraged one to explore rich technical realms as they were employed in the service of the poetic. Probably most inspirational of all was the co-operative sensibility of pulling the show off...installing it, exhibiting it ..... with many of the artists present to discuss and till the soils of the possibilities of this electronic mode of engaging.....an apropos model for our times. Impressive endeavor!

I was blown away by the Currents show. What was most extraordinary about Currents for me was that it contained both the feeling of a grass-roots style event (being built by our local community of video artists and supporters) mixed with a curatorial clarity, care of detail, and respectful and professional presentation of the work, rivaling any museum show of new media I have every experieced. This made the experience accessible, fresh and very exciting. Kudos to the team that built it!

Currents was the best video show I have ever seen. Werner Heisenberg once said, "beauty is the proper conformity of the parts to one another and to the whole." I think this summarizes Currents 2010. Everything about the show held together. Some individual pieces were exquisite and none of them competed with others. The space was transformed and the show itself became a work of art. I hope to visit Currents 2011 many times.

Congratulations on all counts. A great idea, well conceived and realized.
The large space made for an innovative and fun audio-video exploration
of large wall projected works, spatial installations, sculptural pieces,
single and multi-channel and display compositions. Excellent curating
of simple, almost analogue works, and beautifully designed, complexly
choreograped digital masterpieces. All this with minimal budget,
technical donations and lots of volunteer time, made Currents especially inspiring.
With improved support, next year's Currents can have international impact,
while placing video/digital media at the forefront of Santa Fe's cultural economy.
Bravo.

I flew to NM from Florida to see this video art exhibit and I will hopefully being flying out to see it again next year. Having just returned from Europe and seeing video art openings there as well, I realized how fortunate we are to have pioneers like Frank and Mariannah bringing the future in art to Santa Fe right now. The set ups were amazing and the qualities of the films were captivating, stimulating and extremely fullfilling for those seeking the future "currents" of the art world.
